The Franklin pairs a softly diffused white opal glass shade with a clean matte black steel body. How bright is it?

Brightness depends on the bulb you install. This fixture takes one 100W max E26 medium-base bulb, and lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer. With a typical 100W-equivalent LED you get roughly 1500-1600 lumens, which is plenty for task lighting over a counter. The white opal glass softens and spreads that light rather than focusing it.

Light color and feel

Color temperature is set by the bulb, not the fixture, so you can choose warm 2700K for a cozy dining feel or 3000K-3500K for a crisper kitchen. The white opal glass keeps the light even and glare-free. Dimmability also depends on the bulb and dimmer you pair it with.
