Description
A 23-inch tall table lamp with a mica shade and valiant bronze resin base, inspired by Native American beadwork patterns.
In 1920, Museum of International Folk Art founder Florence Dibell Bartlett first visited New Mexico and stayed at the well-known San Gabriel Ranch. In the 1930s she bought and lovingly restored the 70-acre ranch, renaming it El Mirador. Ms. Bartlett loved bright colors and light-filled rooms, so she added a number of stained glass windows. The glass maker adapted her favorite Native American beadwork patterns into the designs - the window over the front door provided the inspiration for this piece.
Best for
- Living rooms and dens where a warm, patterned mica shade adds character
- Bedrooms as a bedside lamp with a two-circuit switch for flexible light levels
- Southwestern, rustic, and Arts and Crafts interiors that suit bronze and mica
- Reading nooks and console tables where a 23-inch lamp height fits comfortably
Not ideal for
- Very small nightstands - the 14.5-inch-wide shade needs a generous surface
- Modern minimalist rooms where a patterned mica shade would feel busy
- Task lighting for detailed work - this is an ambient and accent lamp, not a desk lamp
Style and finish
Valiant bronze resin base paired with a mica shade gives a warm, Southwestern Arts and Crafts look. The mica panels diffuse light into a soft amber glow, and the bronze finish reads traditional rather than shiny or modern.
Materials and care
Resin base with a mica shade. Care instructions are not specified by the manufacturer; dust with a soft dry cloth and avoid liquid cleaners on the mica.
