Description
A polished nickel island light with four mercury glass globes, designed for kitchen islands and dining areas.
The Preston island light combines industrial style with elegant detailing. Its four globe-shaped mercury glass shades feature intricate fluting, creating a timeless look that pairs beautifully with the streamlined frame. The polished nickel finish adds a sleek, modern touch, while the hand-blown glass provides a warm, reflective glow. This fixture is perfect for adding both form and function to your space.
Best for
- Kitchen islands, hung centered over a large island (48 inches wide) for task and ambient lighting
- Dining rooms, positioned over a long table for even illumination
- Breakfast bars and peninsulas, providing bright, focused light
- Open-concept living areas, defining the kitchen or dining zone
- Large entryways or foyers, making a dramatic statement
Not ideal for
- Bathrooms with direct shower exposure - this island light is rated for damp locations, not wet locations
- Outdoor uncovered areas - not rated for wet locations
- Small spaces under 8 feet wide - the 48-inch width may overwhelm a compact kitchen or dining nook
How bright is it?
This fixture holds four bulbs (not included) with a maximum of 100 watts per socket. With four 100W incandescent bulbs, you can expect roughly 6400 lumens total - very bright, suitable for a large kitchen island or dining area. For a softer glow, use lower-wattage LED bulbs or a dimmer.
Light color and feel
The fixture is dimmable, allowing you to adjust the light level from bright task lighting to a soft, ambient glow. The mercury glass shades diffuse the light, creating a warm, shimmering effect. The light color depends on the bulbs you choose - warm white (2700K-3000K) LEDs create a cozy, inviting atmosphere, while cooler bulbs (3500K-5000K) give a more energizing feel. The hand-blown glass adds a unique, artisanal touch.
Sizing and fit
The island light measures 48 inches wide, 7 inches deep, and 10.88 inches high. It comes with two 6-inch and four 12-inch stems, allowing a hanging height range of 14.75 to 38.75 inches. The rectangular canopy is 4.5 inches deep and 6.25 inches wide. It is sloped ceiling adaptable, making it versatile for various ceiling types.
