Description
A 42-inch wide, 3-light island light from the Newton Sphere collection, finished in satin nickel with mercury glass globe shades - ideal for kitchen islands and dining areas in modern industrial homes.
The Newton Sphere collection brings together architectural detailing and a beautiful globe-shaped shade. The iconic sphere shade is hand-blown glass in a mercury finish, adding a vintage-industrial touch. The satin nickel metal frame and oval canopy complete the look, making this fixture a statement piece for any exceptional space.
Best for
- Kitchen islands 6-8 feet long, hung 30-36 inches above the counter for task and ambient light
- Dining rooms over a table 6-8 feet long, providing a warm, inviting glow
- Open-concept living areas where a sculptural light adds architectural interest
- Vaulted or sloped ceilings - the included 90-degree swivel and multiple stems allow for flexible hanging
- Farmhouse and industrial-style interiors that embrace mixed materials
Not ideal for
- Bathrooms with direct shower exposure - this fixture is damp-rated, not wet-rated
- Spaces with ceilings under 8 feet if you need the full 47-inch hanging length
- Those seeking a minimalist, low-profile light - the globe shades are bold and prominent
How bright is it?
Brightness depends on the bulbs you choose. The fixture accepts three 100-watt max bulbs (not included) and is compatible with incandescent, LED, fluorescent, and halogen bulbs. With three 800-lumen LED bulbs, you'll get about 2400 lumens - enough to light a kitchen island or dining table effectively.
Light color and feel
The light color depends on the bulbs you install. For a warm, inviting glow, choose 2700K-3000K LED bulbs. The mercury glass shades diffuse light softly, reducing glare and creating a warm ambiance. The fixture is dimmable, so you can adjust the mood from bright task lighting to a soft evening glow.
Sizing and fit
This island light measures 10 inches deep, 41.5 inches wide, and 16.38 inches high. The hanging height is adjustable from 23.13 to 47.13 inches using the included stems (two 6-inch and four 12-inch). It's designed for sloped and vaulted ceilings with the included 90-degree swivel. The canopy is 4.38 inches deep, 8.25 inches wide, and 0.75 inches high.
