Brightness depends on the bulb you choose. The fixture accepts a standard medium base bulb up to 60W equivalent. A typical 60W incandescent or 800-lumen LED will provide ample task light for reading.
Light color and feel
Light color depends on the bulb. For a warm, cozy feel, use a 2700K-3000K bulb. The seedy glass shade softens and diffuses the light, reducing glare.
