Description
An 8-light linear island light from the Boreas Collection, finished in polished nickel with striped white glass shades, designed for kitchen islands and dining areas.
The Boreas Collection brings an industrial edge to modern sophistication. Each fixture features cylindrical glass shades set in an updated restoration-style frame, with intricate knurling on the sockets, canopy, and finials. The polished nickel finish and striped white glass create a bright, refined look that suits contemporary and transitional interiors.
Best for
- Kitchen islands 6-8 feet long, hung 30-36 inches above the counter for task lighting
- Dining rooms over a 6-8 person table, providing ambient light for meals
- Game rooms or dinettes where a linear fixture adds character and focused illumination
- Kitchenettes or breakfast nooks, adding a stylish focal point
- Open-concept living areas with sloped or vaulted ceilings, thanks to the included 90-degree swivel
Not ideal for
- Bathrooms with direct shower exposure - this fixture is damp-rated, not wet-rated
- Spaces with ceilings under 8 feet if you need the full 30-inch hanging length
- Rooms where you prefer a single central light rather than a linear distribution
How bright is it?
With eight sockets rated for 60W each, the total output depends on the bulbs you choose. Using 60W incandescent bulbs, you can achieve up to 4,800 lumens - bright enough for a large kitchen or dining area. LED equivalents can provide similar brightness with lower energy use.
Light color and feel
The fixture itself does not determine light color; it depends on the bulbs you install. For a warm, inviting glow, choose 2700K-3000K bulbs. The striped white glass shades diffuse light softly, reducing glare while still providing ample illumination. The fixture is dimmable, allowing you to adjust the mood from bright task lighting to a softer ambient glow.
Sizing and fit
The fixture measures 48 inches wide, 3 inches deep, and 10.75 inches high. It includes two 6-inch and four 12-inch stems, allowing a customizable hanging length from 17.08 to 35.08 inches. The canopy is 15.75 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and 0.75 inches high. Ideal for ceilings 8 feet or higher.
