Description
An 8-light linear island light from the Boreas Collection, finished in satin nickel with white glass shades, designed for kitchen islands and dining rooms.
The Boreas Collection brings an industrial touch to modern sophistication. This linear fixture features cylindrical glass shades set in a restoration-style frame with intricate knurling on the sockets, canopy, and finials. The satin nickel finish and white glass create a clean, versatile look that complements both contemporary and traditional interiors.
Best for
- Kitchen islands measuring 6-8 feet long, hung 30-36 inches above the counter
- Dining room tables, centered over the table for ambient and task lighting
- Game rooms and dinettes where a linear light adds focused illumination
- Kitchenettes or breakfast bars needing a sleek, modern light source
- Sloped or vaulted ceilings, thanks to the included 90-degree hang straight swivel
Not ideal for
- Bathrooms with direct shower exposure - this fixture is damp-rated, not wet-rated
- Low ceilings under 8 feet if you need the full 30-inch hanging length
- Spaces requiring a single point of light rather than a linear distribution
How bright is it?
With eight 60-watt max sockets, the total brightness depends on the bulbs you choose. Using standard 60W incandescent bulbs, you can expect around 800 lumens per bulb, totaling about 6400 lumens - bright enough for a large kitchen island or dining area. LED bulbs are also compatible and can provide similar brightness with less energy.
Light color and feel
The fixture is dimmable, allowing you to adjust the light level to suit your mood. The color temperature will depend on the bulbs you select; for a warm, inviting glow, choose bulbs with a color temperature of 2700K-3000K. The white glass shades diffuse the light, reducing glare and creating a soft, even illumination.
Sizing and fit
This linear island light measures 48 inches wide, 3 inches deep, and 13.75 inches high. The height can be adjusted from 17.08 to 35.08 inches using the included stems (two 6-inch and four 12-inch). It is ideal for kitchen islands that are at least 48 inches long, and the canopy is 15.75 inches wide, so ensure your ceiling box can support it.
