Description
A 48-inch eight-light island light from the Boreas collection, finished in polished nickel with clear glass shades - an industrial-modern statement for large kitchen islands and dining areas.
The Boreas collection takes an industrial approach to modern sophistication. Cylindrical glass shades are set in an updated restoration-style frame, with intricate knurling detail on the sockets, canopy, and finials. The polished nickel finish and clear glass create a bright, refined look that complements both contemporary and traditional interiors.
Best for
- Large kitchen islands in open-plan kitchens, hung 30-36 inches above the counter for task lighting
- Dining rooms over a table, providing ambient light for meals and gatherings
- Game rooms or dinette areas where a statement light is needed
- Vaulted or sloped ceilings, thanks to the included 90-degree swivel
- Spaces with 8-foot ceilings or higher, with adjustable hanging length up to 30 inches
Not ideal for
- Bathrooms or covered outdoor areas - this fixture is rated for damp locations only, not wet locations
- Small kitchens or islands under 4 feet long - the 48-inch width may overwhelm
- Spaces with ceilings under 8 feet if you need the full 30-inch hanging length
How bright is it?
Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer, but each socket accepts up to a 60-watt incandescent bulb (or equivalent LED), so you can achieve bright task lighting. With eight bulbs, this island light can serve as a primary light source for a large kitchen island or dining table.
Light color and feel
Color temperature depends on the bulbs you choose. For a warm, inviting glow, use 2700K-3000K LED bulbs. The clear glass shades allow light to pass through brightly, creating a crisp, clean ambiance. The fixture is dimmable, allowing you to adjust brightness to suit the mood.
Sizing and fit
The island light measures 48 inches long by 3 inches wide by 13.75 inches high, with a hanging height adjustable from 17.08 to 35.08 inches. The canopy is 15.75 inches long by 4.5 inches wide. It's well-suited for kitchen islands up to 7 feet long or dining tables up to 6 feet wide.
