House of Troy Traditional 42in 6-Light Picture Light | Classic Polished Brass Metal Shade | Living Room & Gallery Art Lighting | Model T42-61

A 42-inch plug-in picture light in polished brass, built to light a wide canvas, gallery wall, or mantel artwork with a bright, classic look.

From House of Troy's Classic Traditional collection, this six-bulb picture light has a slim metal shade that spans a large frame and an arm that telescopes from 5 to 7 inches to clear deep canvases or a thick mantel. The polished brass finish is a bright, reflective gold tone - a traditional choice that warms wood-paneled rooms, oil paintings, and classic interiors.

Best for

• Living rooms and libraries lighting a large painting or gallery wall above a sofa or mantel
• Traditional and formal rooms where polished brass complements wood and warm decor
• Hallways and stair landings with a long horizontal piece that a single downlight can't cover
• Renters or anyone without in-wall wiring - it plugs into a standard outlet

Not ideal for

• Very small frames under about 24 inches wide - the 42-inch shade will overhang them
• Spaces where you want a hardwired, switch-controlled install - this is a plug-in model with an in-line cord switch
• Outdoor or bathroom use - no damp or wet rating is stated for this fixture

How bright is it?

Takes six 25W or 40W T10 incandescent bulbs (not included). Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer, but six 40W bulbs give generous, even wash light across a large piece - more than enough for artwork, and adjustable via the in-line hi-lo switch.

Light color and feel

Color temperature depends on the bulbs you choose; with standard incandescent T10s you get a warm, golden 2700K-3000K feel that flatters oil paintings, warm woods, and brass accents. The in-line hi-lo switch on the cord lets you drop to a softer accent level.

Sizing and fit

Overall 42 in wide x 5 in deep x 2.25 in high, with an arm that telescopes from 5 to 7 in to extend the lamp away from the wall. The 42-inch shade suits artwork roughly 40-48 inches wide. Weighs 7 lbs. Plug-in with a 2-prong cord.
