House of Troy Traditional 42in 6-Light Picture Light | Classic Antique Brass Metal | Living Room & Gallery Art | 5 x 7 x 50 in | Model T42-71

A 42-inch plug-in picture light in antique brass that washes large artwork, portraits, and gallery walls in warm, even light.

The Traditional series from House of Troy is the picture light that decorators specify when the art is the point. The antique brass finish has a soft, lived-in glow that flatters oil paintings, gilded frames, and wood paneling, while the 42-inch shade spans wide canvases and multi-piece groupings without hot spots.

Best for

• Living rooms and libraries with large-scale art or a statement portrait over the mantel
• Gallery walls and stairwells where a single wide light beats several small ones
• Home offices and studies with framed maps, certificates, or photography
• Rental-friendly installs - plugs into a standard outlet with no hardwiring

Not ideal for

• Very small frames under 24 inches wide - the 42-inch shade will overpower them
• Spaces where a visible cord is unacceptable; this is a plug-in model with a 2-prong cord
• Bathrooms or covered outdoor areas - not rated for damp or wet locations

How bright is it?

Six 25W or 40W T10 incandescent bulbs (not included) give you roughly 1,500-2,400 lumens depending on the bulb you choose - enough to light a large canvas as an accent, not to replace room lighting. The in-line hi-lo switch lets you drop to a softer wash for evening.

Light color and feel

With incandescent T10 bulbs you get a warm, continuous spectrum around 2700K - the classic gallery glow that makes oil paint and wood tones look rich. Bulb choice controls the exact color; warm-white LEDs work if you prefer lower heat.

Sizing and fit

The shade is 42 inches wide and extends 5 to 7 inches from the wall, so it clears most frame depths. Overall dimensions are 5 in W x 7 in D x 50 in H. Best on walls with at least 12 inches of clearance above the frame.
