Description
An 18-inch plug-in picture light in satin nickel, made to wash a favorite painting or gallery wall in warm, even light.
From House of Troy's Classic Traditional collection, this two-bulb picture light has a slim satin nickel shade that spans 18 inches and a telescoping arm that extends from 7 to 9 inches, so you can set the light exactly where the artwork needs it. It plugs into any standard outlet with a 2-prong cord and switches on with an in-line hi-lo control, so no hardwiring is required. It is ETL Listed and made in the USA.
Best for
- Living rooms and dens with a large canvas or framed print above a mantel or sofa
- Home galleries and hallways lined with framed art that needs even top-down light
- Home offices and studies where a portrait or diploma hangs behind the desk
- Renters and anyone who wants picture lighting without an electrician
Not ideal for
- Very small frames under about 12 inches wide - the 18-inch shade will overhang them
- Spaces where a visible cord from the outlet to the light is a problem
- Anyone expecting bulbs in the box - they are sold separately
How bright is it?
Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer. The fixture takes two 25W or 40W B10 candelabra-base incandescent bulbs, giving a soft accent wash suited to highlighting artwork rather than lighting a whole room.
Light color and feel
Color temperature depends on the bulbs you choose; the manufacturer does not specify a Kelvin rating. Standard incandescent B10 bulbs give a warm, golden tone that flatters oil paintings, prints, and wood frames. The in-line hi-lo switch lets you drop to a softer level for evening viewing.
Sizing and fit
The shade measures 18 inches wide and the arm telescopes from 7 to 9 inches of extension, holding the light a few inches off the wall above the frame. Overall dimensions are 18 in W x 5 in D x 2.25 in H and the unit weighs 4 lbs. It suits frames roughly 20 to 36 inches wide.
