House of Troy Slim-line 40in 8-Light Picture Light | Traditional Black Metal | Living Room & Gallery Art Display | 40 in Shade, 8 in | Model SL40-7

A 40-inch plug-in picture light in black, built to wash large canvases, gallery walls, and oversized artwork in even, glare-free light.

The Slim-line series keeps the profile low and the light wide. Eight incandescent bulbs sit behind a slim 40-inch metal shade, spreading a continuous band of illumination across the full width of a painting rather than a hot spot in the center. The black finish disappears against dark frames and reads clean and understated on light walls, and the plug-in 2-prong cord means no hardwiring is required.

Best for

• Living rooms and home galleries with artwork 36-48 in wide that needs even top-down illumination
• Above a fireplace mantel or console where a large statement piece anchors the wall
• Rental and apartment walls where a plug-in install is simpler than hardwiring
• Dark-framed artwork and moody, high-contrast interiors

Not ideal for

• Very small frames under 24 in wide - the 40 in shade will overhang the artwork
• Walls without a nearby outlet, since this is a plug-in model with a 2-prong cord
• Spaces where you want a hardwired, switch-controlled install

How bright is it?

Eight 15T4 incandescent bulbs are included. Total lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer, but this is an accent light designed to illuminate artwork, not to light a room on its own.

Light color and feel

Incandescent bulbs produce a warm, familiar glow that flatters oil, canvas, and photography without the harshness of cooler sources. An in-line hi-lo switch lets you step brightness up or down at the cord.

Sizing and fit

The shade measures 40 in wide with an 8 in extension from the wall, so it projects out over the top of the frame. Overall dimensions are W 3 in x D 11 in x H 43 in and the unit weighs 5 lbs. Best suited to walls with at least 12 in of clearance above the artwork.
