Description
A 30-inch plug-in picture light in chrome, built to wash large paintings and gallery walls in clean, even light.
The Slim-line series is House of Troy's low-profile approach to art lighting: a slim metal shade that sits close to the frame instead of competing with it. This 30-inch version runs six incandescent bulbs behind a polished chrome shade, giving wide, even coverage across oversized canvases, mantel art, and long gallery walls. The 2-prong cord and in-line hi-lo switch mean no hardwiring and no wall switch required.
Best for
- Living rooms and dens with artwork 30 inches wide or larger above a mantel, sofa, or console
- Home galleries and hallways lined with framed pieces that need consistent top-down light
- Rentals and apartments where a plug-in fixture is easier than adding a wall box
- Modern and contemporary interiors where a chrome finish matches stainless and glass
Not ideal for
- Very small frames under about 20 inches wide - the 30-inch shade will overhang the artwork
- Spaces where a visible cord is unacceptable; this is a plug-in design with a 2-prong cord
- Anyone expecting a hardwired, wall-switch-controlled install
How bright is it?
Six 15T4 incandescent bulbs are included. Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer, but this is accent lighting meant to graze artwork, not to light a whole room.
Light color and feel
Incandescent bulbs give a warm, golden-white tone that flatters oil paintings, warm-toned prints, and wood frames. The in-line hi-lo switch lets you drop to a softer level for evening viewing. Color temperature and CRI are not specified by the manufacturer.
Sizing and fit
The shade measures 30 inches wide with an 8-inch extension from the wall, so it stands off far enough to clear deep frames and canvas stretchers. Overall dimensions are W 3 in x D 11 in x H 33 in. Best suited to walls with at least 30 inches of uninterrupted art width.
