House of Troy Contemporary 16in 2-Light Picture Light | Polished Chrome Metal | Living Room & Gallery Art Lighting | 16 in Shade, 5-7 | Model C16-62

A 16-inch plug-in picture light in polished chrome, made to wash a single large canvas or a pair of framed prints in even, glare-free light.

Part of House of Troy's Contemporary collection, this two-bulb picture light has a slim 16-inch shade that throws light down the face of the artwork rather than out into the room. The polished chrome finish is bright and mirror-like, so it disappears against modern frames and reads as a clean architectural line above a mantel or console. It plugs into any standard outlet with a 2-prong cord, so no hardwiring is needed.

Best for

• Living rooms and dens, mounted above a sofa or mantel to light a large painting or gallery wall
• Home offices and studies where framed art or certificates hang behind a desk
• Hallways and stair landings with a single statement piece that needs accent light
• Rentals and apartments - the plug-in cord means no electrician and no wall cutting

Not ideal for

• Very large murals or oversized canvases wider than 16 inches - the shade will not cover the full width
• Spaces where you want the light to illuminate the room itself; this is an accent light, not a room light
• Outdoor or damp locations - no damp or wet rating is stated for this fixture

How bright is it?

Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer. It takes two 25W or 40W T10 incandescent bulbs, which give a focused accent wash suitable for highlighting artwork rather than lighting a room.

Light color and feel

Color temperature depends on the bulbs you choose - the fixture ships without bulbs. Warm-white incandescent bulbs in the 2700K-3000K range are the traditional choice for artwork because they keep colors looking natural and avoid the blue cast of cool bulbs.

Sizing and fit

The shade is 16 inches wide and extends 5 to 7 inches from the wall, so it clears most frame depths. Overall dimensions are 4 in W x 4 in D x 18 in H. Works well over a single large frame or a tight pair of prints on a standard 8-9 ft wall.

Frequently asked

What's the warranty? Warranty terms are not specified by the manufacturer in the supplied data.

Does it need to be hardwired? No - it plugs into a standard outlet with a 2-prong cord, which makes it a good fit for rentals and rooms without an existing wall box.
