Description
A 16-inch California-compliant plug-in picture light in satin brass, built to light artwork, portraits, and gallery walls evenly.
This is the CA-compliant version of the Contemporary picture light, supplied with B10 bulb compatibility to meet California requirements. The slim 16-inch metal shade directs light down the face of a canvas or print, and the 5 to 7 inch adjustable extension lets you dial in the spread. The satin brass finish is soft and low-luster, pairing well with warm wood frames and traditional interiors. It plugs into any standard outlet with a 2-prong cord and controls brightness with an in-line hi-lo switch - no hardwiring needed.
Best for
- Living rooms and hallways with a large canvas, portrait, or print
- Home galleries and stairwell art walls where hardwiring isn't practical
- Home offices and studies with framed art behind a desk
- California installations that require compliant bulb types
Not ideal for
- Very large or oversized artworks - a 16-inch shade covers a moderate frame
- Installations where a visible cord is unacceptable - this is a plug-in model
- Outdoor or covered patio use - no wet or damp rating is stated for this fixture
How bright is it?
Takes two 25W or 40W B10 incandescent bulbs (not included). Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer; two 40W bulbs give a soft accent wash suited to highlighting art rather than lighting a room.
Light color and feel
Color temperature depends on the bulbs you choose; standard incandescent B10s give a warm, golden tone that flatters oil paintings, warm-toned prints, and wood frames. The in-line hi-lo switch lets you drop to a softer level for evening viewing.
Sizing and fit
16-inch shade with a 5 to 7 inch adjustable extension from the wall. Overall dimensions are 4 in W x 4 in D x 18 in H and the unit weighs 3 lbs. Works well over frames roughly 20 to 36 inches wide; for wider pieces, pair two.
