The Orwell pendant takes its cues from vintage factory lighting: A simple cone shade, exposed mechanical details, and a deep matte black finish with a smooth, non-reflective surface. The shade is open at the top, so light escapes upward as well as down, giving you ambient fill instead of a single harsh pool of light. The interior is finished in Auric Yellow - a saturated golden-yellow with a flat matte sheen - which adds a bold pop of color when you look up into the shade.

How bright is it?

Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer and depends on the bulb you choose. With a 100W-equivalent LED you get roughly 1,600 lumens - about as bright as a bright reading lamp. That is plenty for a kitchen island task light or a dining table, but not enough to light a whole room on its own.

Light color and feel

Color temperature depends on the bulb you install - the fixture itself does not set it. For a warm, inviting kitchen or dining look, choose a 2700K-3000K bulb; for a crisper task light over a sink, 3500K-4000K works well. The fixture is dimmable, so pair it with a compatible dimmer switch to take it from bright task light down to a soft evening glow.

Is the bulb included? No. It takes one E26 medium-base A19 bulb, sold separately, up to 100W.

Is it dimmable, and what dimmer should I use? Yes, it is dimmable. Use a dimmer switch rated for the bulb type you install - a standard LED-compatible dimmer for LED bulbs, or a traditional incandescent dimmer for incandescent bulbs.

Can I install this in a bathroom or outdoors? It is damp location rated, so it works in bathrooms, covered porches, and laundry rooms. It is not rated for wet locations, so keep it out of direct rain or spray.

What's the warranty? 1 year limited.
