A 14-inch single pendant in matte black with an exotic purple cone shade, made for kitchen islands, dining tables, and entryways.

The Orwell pendant has a utilitarian, factory-inspired look with a cone-shaped steel shade finished in a deep, saturated exotic purple with a flat matte sheen. The matte black body keeps the silhouette clean and modern. The open-top shade design lets light escape upward for ambient fill while the main beam drops down onto the surface below. It is damp location rated, so it works in bathrooms and covered porches as well as indoor spaces.

Best for

• Kitchen islands and breakfast bars - hang one over a small island or two or three in a row over a long counter
• Dining rooms and breakfast nooks with tables up to about 48 inches wide
• Entryways and foyers where a 14-inch pendant fills the vertical space without crowding
• Covered porches and laundry rooms - damp location rated for occasional moisture

Not ideal for

• Rooms with ceilings under 8 feet if you plan to use the full 120-inch cable - the minimum hanging height is 17.5 inches

How bright is it?

Brightness depends on the bulb you choose. With a 100W-equivalent LED you get roughly 1,600 lumens - about as bright as a 100W incandescent. That is enough to light a small dining table or a kitchen island task area, but for a large open kitchen you will want two or three pendants spaced along the counter.

Light color and feel

Light color is set by the bulb, not the fixture. A 2700K-3000K warm white bulb gives a soft, golden tone that flatters wood cabinets and warm finishes. The purple shade adds a bold color accent when the fixture is on or off. The fixture is fully dimmable with a compatible dimmer switch.

Sizing and fit

Overall dimensions are 14 inches wide x 14 inches deep x 10 inches high. The shade itself is 14 inches wide and 7.25 inches tall. The fixture hangs from a 120-inch cable, with a minimum height of 17.5 inches and a maximum of 131.5 inches, so it fits ceilings from about 8 feet up to 12 feet or more. The round canopy is 4.88 inches wide and sloped-ceiling compatible. For a kitchen island, hang the bottom of the shade 30-36 inches above the countertop.

Is the bulb included? No. It requires one E26 medium-base A19 bulb, sold separately. Maximum 100W.

Is it dimmable, and what dimmer should I use? Yes, it is dimmable. Use a standard wall dimmer rated for the bulb type you install - LED-compatible dimmers work best with LED bulbs.

Can I install this in a bathroom or outdoors? It is damp location rated and indoor use only, so it works in bathrooms and covered porches with occasional moisture. It is not wet rated, so do not install it where rain or sprinklers hit it directly.

What's the warranty? 1 year limited manufacturer warranty.

Will it work on a sloped ceiling? Yes, the canopy is sloped-ceiling compatible and the cable can be shortened to set your hanging height.
