Designers Fountain Evensong 8in 1-Light Wall Sconce | Transitional Matte Black and Etched Opal Glass | Hallway & Bedroom Accent | Model D340M-WS-MB

An 8-inch wall sconce with a layered etched opal glass and metal cage shade in matte black - a clean accent light for hallways, bedrooms, and bathrooms.

The Evensong sconce takes a classic bell silhouette and softens it with a two-layer shade: an etched opal glass diffuser inside a matte black metal cage. The matte black finish is flat and low-glare, so it disappears into the background and lets the glowing shade do the talking. It is a natural fit for transitional interiors, and it pairs easily with black hardware, dark wood trim, or a crisp white wall.

Best for

• Hallways and stairwells - mount in pairs or a row to guide the eye down a corridor
• Bedrooms, flanking the bed as reading sconces or beside a dresser
• Bathrooms and powder rooms, on either side of a mirror or vanity
• Living rooms and dining areas as a soft accent light on a feature wall

Not ideal for

• Rooms where you need the sconce to light the whole space - one 60W bulb is accent-level brightness
• Outdoor or wet locations - this fixture is Damp Listed, not wet rated
• Very small powder rooms where a 15.5 in tall sconce would crowd the mirror

How bright is it?

Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer. With one 60W medium-base bulb (not included), expect roughly 800 lumens from a standard incandescent or LED equivalent - about as bright as a single 60W bulb. That is ideal for accent and ambient light, not as a primary room light.

Light color and feel

Color temperature depends on the bulb you choose - the fixture itself does not set it. The etched opal glass diffuses the light softly, so a warm 2700K-3000K bulb will feel golden and flattering, while a 4000K bulb will read crisper. The fixture is dimmable, so pair it with a compatible dimmer for evening-level light.

Sizing and fit

Overall dimensions are 9.75 in long x 8 in wide x 15.5 in tall, with an 8 in wide x 10 in tall shade and a 5 in wide backplate. The 9.75 in projection means it stands out from the wall enough to cast a soft wash of light without feeling bulky. Item weight is 3.51 lbs.

Frequently asked

Is the bulb included? No - the fixture takes one 60W medium-base bulb, sold separately. LED and incandescent bulbs both work.

Is it dimmable, and what dimmer should I use? Yes, it is dimmable. Use a dimmer rated for the bulb type you install (LED-compatible dimmer for LED bulbs).

Can I install this in a bathroom or outdoors? It carries a Damp Listed rating, so it is suitable for damp indoor locations such as bathrooms. It is not rated for wet or outdoor locations.

What's the warranty? 1 year.

Does the matte black finish show fingerprints? Matte black has a flat, low-sheen surface that hides fingerprints and smudges better than gloss or polished finishes - a quick dry dusting is usually all it needs.
