Description
A one-light outdoor wall sconce for porches, garage entries, and side doors, finished in Olde World Iron with white frosted linen glass.
The Barton is a traditional wall lantern with a dark Olde World Iron finish and softly diffused white frosted linen glass. At 21.25 in wide it is a horizontal accent built to sit beside a door rather than tower over it, and the frosted glass spreads light evenly instead of throwing glare.
Best for
- Front entryways and covered porches, mounted beside the door
- Garage walls and side entries where a wide, low sconce fits the wall
- Traditional and craftsman exteriors that suit a dark iron finish
- Covered patios and breezeways where the fixture stays out of direct weather
Not ideal for
- Walls with less than about 21 in of clear horizontal space - this is a wide fixture
- Very small doorways where a compact lantern would look better proportioned
- Anyone wanting a bright flood of light - one 100W-max bulb gives accent-level output
How bright is it?
Lumen output is not specified by the manufacturer. It takes one medium-base incandescent bulb up to 100W, which is roughly accent-to-ambient level - enough to light a doorway and mark a path, not to flood a driveway.
Light color and feel
Light color depends on the bulb you choose; the white frosted linen glass softens and diffuses whatever bulb is installed, so the effect is even and glare-free rather than crisp. A warm-white bulb suits the Olde World Iron finish best.
Sizing and fit
Overall 10 in high x 21.25 in wide with a 5.75 in extension from the wall. The backplate is 7 in high x 5 in wide x 1 in deep. Because it is 21.25 in wide, plan on a wall with generous clearance on either side of the door.
