The Irene-5 from Matthews Fan Company pairs rustic, solid wood blades with a streamlined spherical motor housing in textured bronze. The result is a fan that feels warm and natural while still looking modern. With a powerful yet ultra-quiet DC motor, it moves air efficiently in rooms up to 400 square feet.

- Living rooms and great rooms 15x20 ft or larger, mounted at the center of the ceiling
- Covered patios and porches in damp locations (not for salt-water ocean front)
- Bedrooms and home offices needing quiet, energy-efficient air circulation
- Vaulted ceilings up to 30 degrees with the included angled-mount canopy
- Homes with high ceilings, using the included 10-inch downrod or an optional longer one
Not ideal for
- Ocean-front homes or salt-water exposure - the manufacturer does not recommend this fan for those environments
- Low ceilings under 8 ft without a flush-mount option (this fan requires a downrod)
- Small rooms under 100 sq ft where a 52-inch sweep would be overpowering
