- Mervyn Weitz developed the concept of an underwire lamp shade in 1976. As a young designer, Mervyn worked at the Olga Company in Los Angeles and helped develop designs in underwire bras which became the basis of his inspiration. He experimented with lace, satins and other translucent fabrics that would diffuse the light. By creating a form factor in steel wire and wrapping it with translucent fabrics he created a series of unique volumes. When he inserted a bulb, it glowed and the Cloud series was born. We are re-introducing Mervyn's cloud concept in a range of mid-century modern forms / provides soft, diffuse, glowing light/ Translucent satin shade with internal diffuers/ organic shape/ weathered brass-plated steel
