Description
A 48-inch island light with four bell-shaped mercury glass shades, perfect for kitchen islands and dining areas that need a blend of vintage charm and modern functionality.
The Preston island light from Innovations Lighting features an elongated bell glass design paired with a sleek Arcadia frame in antique copper. The fluted detailing adds texture and sophistication, while the clean lines enhance its modern appeal. Hand-blown glass shades in a mercury finish create a reflective, timeless look that suits industrial, modern, and transitional interiors.
Best for
- Kitchen islands measuring 6 to 8 feet long, hung 30-36 inches above the counter
- Dining rooms with a rectangular table, providing focused task and ambient light
- Open-plan living areas where a statement light is needed
- Vaulted or sloped ceilings, thanks to the included 90-degree swivel
- Industrial and restoration-vintage style homes
Not ideal for
- Small kitchens or islands under 4 feet wide, as the 48-inch width may overwhelm
- Rooms with low ceilings (under 8 feet) if you need a short hanging length, as the minimum is 14.75 inches
- Spaces that require a flush mount or close-to-ceiling installation
How bright is it?
With four sockets rated for up to 100W each, this fixture can produce a substantial amount of light. Using four 60W equivalent LED bulbs, you can achieve around 3200 lumens, which is bright enough for a large kitchen island. The fixture is dimmable, so you can adjust the brightness to suit the mood.
Light color and feel
The mercury glass shades diffuse the light, creating a soft, even glow with a slight sparkle. The fixture is compatible with incandescent, LED, fluorescent, and halogen bulbs, so you can choose a color temperature that fits your space—warm white (2700K-3000K) is recommended for a cozy feel. With a CRI of 90+ (depending on bulb), colors will appear vibrant and true.
Sizing and fit
Overall dimensions are 48 inches wide, 7 inches deep, and 12.63 inches high. The hanging height is adjustable from 14.75 to 38.75 inches using the included stems (two 6-inch and four 12-inch). The canopy is 4.5 x 6.25 x 0.75 inches. This fixture is designed for sloped ceilings and includes a 90-degree swivel.
